Stenographer may refer to: A person whose job is to write down what somebody speaks through a quick system of signs or scripts and then to transcribe/type the same. A stenographer is a person who is skilled in Shorthand and writes and types quickly at the speed required by the Officer. Shorthand is a subject whereas stenography is the art or the process of writing in Shorthand. It is the combination of words pronounced in English and are written in Shorthand.

alphabet, on the keyboard of a touch shorthand machine; to increase
their recording speeds; and to expand typewritten transcription
practice. Machines are part of the classroom equipment. The guide
outlines performance objectives, course content, suggested
procedures, strategies, learning activities, evaluative instruments,and resources for students and teachers. An appendix provides a pretest, keyboard test, abbreviation test, typewriting centering test, and touch note tests.

Practice, practice and more practice. Shorthand tutors usually recommend around an hour a day spent perfecting outlines and dictation. The more time you give shorthand, the more success you’ll have with it. From personal experience, if you can’t manage an hour a day, it’s better to practice little and often than for hours on end. I sometimes found after an extended time period you tend to question why a word has a certain outline, and get bogged down in unnecessary details. Try practicing for 30 minutes a day to keep the theory fresh in your mind.
