The Montessori Curriculum offers children five key areas of study: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Cultural Studies. Each area of study is made up of a set of educational materials that increase in complexity. Children progress through the Montessori Curriculum at their own pace based on their stage of development and interests.
Montessori educators present key lessons to introduce children to the name and learning outcomes of each Montessori material. After a Key Lesson, the children work with the Montessori material independently to practice, explore, and make connections to the key learning outcomes.
During this time, Montessori educators stand back, observe how the children are learning, and document their progress. An educator will only intervene if needed, to encourage children’s independence, as there is a direct link between children’s sense of empowerment and their ability to learn and retain new skills and information.

The Montessori curriculum provides a solid foundation for a child’s future by taking their natural capabilities - concentration, coordination and muscle movement - and developing them according to the individual. In addition, each classroom contains materials designed to enhance these capabilities. Created to teach learners how to use these materials, this course aids you in preparing and equipping children for practical life.
This course is designed for administrators interested in gaining the basics of the Montessori method. We’ll look at the Montessori history, philosophy, curriculum materials and classroom practices. There will be a direct focus on how leadership is integral in the effective implementation of the Montessori method.
The programme introduces the philosophy underpinning Montessori practice and some basic practical
skills useful in interacting with children. The course would be of interest to teachers working in
Montessori schools, to parents and expecting parents, and childcare professionals from other fields.
Montessori classrooms are beautifully crafted environments designed to meet the needs of children in a specific age range. Dr. Maria Montessori discovered that experiential learning in this type of classroom led to a deeper understanding of language, mathematics, science, music, social interactions and much more. Most Montessori classrooms are secular in nature, although the Montessori educational method can be integrated successfully into a faith-based program.
Every material in a Montessori classroom supports an aspect of child development, creating a match between the child’s natural interests and the available activities. Children can learn through their own experience and at their own pace. They can respond at any moment to the natural curiosities that exist in all humans and build a solid foundation for life-long learning.
This course aims to develop in students a high level of competence when teaching the Montessori Method of Education to children from 2 ½ to 6 years. This course has two elements 1. Montessori philosophy (online study) Montessori apparatus (workshop).
The course components include lecture, reading and discussion and practical activities for a total of 60 hours. There are nine additional hours of observation, and students must submit an observation report, three short papers and handmade materials during the course.
The Montessori education was developed in Italy by Maria Montessori, beginning in 1906, and encourages highly independent learning, mixed-age classrooms, and development of the physical, social, and emotional aspects of children. The Montessori method proposes that children have a natural desire to learn.
