This course provides an overview of the important issues in Occupational Safety and Health. We will not
only focus on the Occupational Safety and Health Act and its standards or lack thereof, but on the larger political agenda of the global economy and how it impacts on the safety and health of
workers around the world. The class style will be participatory, including small group discussions and activities. Related videos will supplement our class discussion.
This publication provides a general overview of a variety of standardsrelated topics. This publication does not alter or determine compliance responsibilities which are set forth in OSHA standards, and the
Occupational Safety and Health Act. Moreover, because interpretations and enforcement policy may change
over time, for additional guidance on OSHA compliance requirements, the reader should consult current
administrative interpretations and decisions by the Occupational Safety and Health Review
Commission and the courts.
Participants receive an OSHA 30-Hour General Industry course completion card in the mail after 1-2 weeks of
completing the course. The 30-hour General Industry Online Course is NOT equivalent to the OSHA 510 or 511 courses. This 30-hour course does not meet the course prerequisites to take the OSHA 500 or OSHA 501 courses.
