A syllabus is a course contract that acts as an agreement between you and your students about the course goals and expectations of your students. A hybrid electric vehicle is powered by an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors that use energy stored in batteries. It is not possible to connect a hybrid electric vehicle to charge the battery. Instead, the battery is recharged by regenerative braking and the internal combustion engine. Additional power is provided by electric motors, which may allow for smaller motors. The battery can also power auxiliary loads and reduce engine idling when stopped. Combined, these features improve fuel economy without sacrificing performance.

Battery (auxiliary battery):
In EV vehicles, a low-voltage auxiliary battery provides power to start the vehicle before the traction battery is turned on. It also powers car accessories.
DC/DC converter:
This device converts high voltage DC power from the traction battery pack to the low voltage DC power required to operate vehicle accessories and charge the auxiliary battery.
Generator:
It generates electricity from the spinning wheels during braking and returns this energy to the traction battery. Some vehicles use a motor-generator that performs both propulsion and regeneration functions. Electric traction motor:
This motor uses power from the traction battery to drive the wheels of the vehicle. Some vehicles use a motor-generator that performs both propulsion and regeneration functions.
Exhaust system:
The exhaust system directs exhaust gases from the engine to the outside through tailpipes. Three-way catalytic converters are designed to reduce engine emissions in the exhaust system.
Fuel filler neck:
The fuel pump nozzle is connected to the vehicle's tank and fills the tank with fuel. Fuel tank (gasoline):
This tank stores gasoline in the vehicle until the engine needs it.
Internal Combustion Engine (Spark Ignition):
In this configuration, fuel is injected into either the intake manifold or the combustion chamber where it mixes with air and the mixture is ignited by a spark from the spark plug.
Power electronics controller:
This unit manages the flow of current supplied by the traction battery and controls the speed and torque of the electric traction motor.
Heating system "cooling":
The system maintains proper operating temperature ranges for engines, electric motors, power electronics and other components.
Traction battery pack:
